I am highly gladdened to see represented here the electronic and print media from so many countries that are friends of Nigeria as well as the vibrant Nigerian press. Please accept my heartfelt welcome to this briefing to the international press on the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival scheduled to hold in Argungu in Kebbi State from 12th to the 15th of March 2008.

It was on the 7th of February 2008 at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Abuja that His Excellency Alhaji Sa’idu Usman Nasamu Dakingari, Executive Governor of Kebbi State made a similar briefing to the international press where His Excellency informed Nigerians and the international community that the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival will be holding this year in March 2008 from 12th to the 15th of that month.

3. Ladies and gentlemen, immediately, the State Government constituted a planning committee under my chairmanship. The planning committee has since its inauguration being working round the clock to ensure that befitting arrangements have been made for hosting the dignitaries that will be at the festival, programmes and events are well prepared as well as adequate provision made for the requirements of the festival.
